The carrot has been long acknowledged as one of nature’s superfoods packed with an array of goodness, best known for their high levels of beta-carotene and vitamin C. The carrot is a highly versatile vegetable being used extensively in all the world’s great cuisines. Here at Zerella Fresh we grown two varieties know as Mojo and Stefano.
SOWING THE SEEDS
To begin the carrot growth well prepared beds are made with a mix in of the family recipe being grandmas compost, this will help the carrot seed thrive into a tasty carrot on your plate.
TIME TO GROW
The carrots will now continue to grow for 150 days, with regular watering and checks of the growth development through diameter inspections and tastings.
Once the carrots reach their prime they are harvested, harvesting in the summer is conducted at night as the temperature in the summer can be too hot during the day for the carrots to come out of the ground. However, in the winter they can be harvested at any time.
WASHING AND GRADING
The paddock to plate process begins and the carrots are now taken to the washer to be triple-washed, gently brushed and graded arriving in your home clean and fresh ready to cook.
PACKED READY TO GO
Once the grading has been done the carrots are packaged and packed ready to send off to the store or your closest supermarket, where you can pick them up and prepare them for a delicious meal around the family table.
